EDR Antwerp Shipyard and Jeco Energies – an electric partnership

From 20 May 2026, ships will be able to connect directly to the electricity grid of Port of Antwerp-Bruges at EDR Antwerp Shipyard. This will allow vessels in the four dry docks and along the 2,500-metre laybyberths to switch off their auxiliary engines during maintenance, repair and retrofit work.

Together with EDR Antwerp Shipyard, Jeco Energies realized a shore power solution that contributes to lower emissions, a more sustainable operation of the yard and an improved CII score of ships during their stay on site.

The flexible shore power installations can be used for various types of ships, including RoRo ships, container ships and bulk carriers. In this way, we support the maritime sector in the transition to cleaner and smarter operations.

This collaboration is also a first step in the further electrification of the shipyard, with the aim of further reducing the ecological impact of ship repairs, maintenance and retrofits. Stay tuned for the live footage of the very first connection
