Three booths with state-of-the-art technology for TotalEnergies Refinery Antwerp

Three booths with state-of-the-art technology for TotalEnergies Refinery Antwerp

DSG – Jeco Energies Group – manufactured and delivered three prefabricated high-voltage cabinets for explosion hazard areas. TotalEnergies needed a solution for powering its operations and maintenance buildings at the Antwerp refinery site and called in our experts for the job. Today, the large cabins-each with four separate rooms for high voltage, low voltage, emergency power and battery-are at their service.

TotalEnergies’ request was specific: the food booths would be located in an ATEX Zone 2 (non-permanent explosion hazard). To keep dangerous gases out of the cabin, we installed an air group and created overpressure in the premises. The cabin is equipped with a system that automatically closes the air supply if it detects an LEL alarm or H2 gas. Also, door contacts ensure that open doors are automatically reported. Smoke development is monitored by a fire detection system and transmitted to the fire department, as well as signaled to the immediate area via a siren and external visual notification.

Guaranteed continuity.

JECO Energies supplied three cabins, each containing four rooms: a high-voltage room with 11kV cells and transformer, a low-voltage room with TAPC main low-voltage board, a low-voltage room with ESWBD for emergency power supplies, and a UPS system coupled with a battery room as backup power. In this way, we ensure continuity for TotalEnergies. We also equipped the battery room with an extraction fan to remove H2 gas released during battery charging. All components in the battery room were ATEX-proofed to meet safety standards.

The custom solution was fully furnished and tested on JECO Energies’ premises and then transported by exceptional transport to TotalEnergies Refinery Antwerp to be placed in the right place using 400- and 750-ton cranes. The cabins are each 10 meters long, 4 meters wide and 4 meters high, weigh 92 tons with another 10 tons of electrical equipment and, except for the roof, are cast in one piece. So they take up a lot of space, but thanks to the space available to JECO Energies at Gens Rental itself, we were able to completely unburden the customer and finish and test these installations in advance. Thus – apart from the delivery – no work took place on the Total Energies site.

A safe, complete installation in triplicate, with all customer requirements included.
