Green Solution for Reefer Containers in the Port of Antwerp

In the modern logistics chain, refrigerated containers, also known as reefer containers, play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of temperature-sensitive goods during transportation. With increasing awareness of environmental impact and the need for sustainable practices, the demand for greener alternatives in the transportation sector is stronger than ever. An innovative project in the Port of Antwerp shows how the industry can move toward a more sustainable future.

GENS Rental, Dymotec (Belgium), and DSG joined forces to realize an impressive project that provides an environmentally friendly solution for feeding reefer containers. This collaboration resulted in the production of 31 reefer panels by Dymotec, while GENS Rental took on the entire rental of the project. In addition, two 2500kVA transformer containers were installed, complete with HV (high voltage) and LV (low voltage) distribution. DSG took care of the high-voltage works, pulling more than 5 kilometers of cables on site.

Up to 520 refrigerated containers can be supplied with power on arrival at the port of Antwerp. This means that these containers can now be cooled without using fossil fuels.
